EMX65 and 85 South West at Gazzane di Preseglie (Italy) – Day1

The first round of  EMX SW Zone EMX65/85 European Championship started today in sunny Gazzane di Preseglie, in Italy with 77 riders in EMX 65 and 49 in EMX 85. The weather conditions early in the morning were really good but the ground was still muddy. After few hours it was sunny and windy. The track was well prepared. In EMX 65 qualification race the first position went to the young Italian rider Alessandro Gaspari  6,72 sec ahead of his compatriot Andrea Valetti and 12,11 sec in front of Spanish rider Alejandro Perez. In EMX 85 group A the first position went to young Spanish rider Eddie Jay Wade, almost 11 sec ahead of Italian rider Matteo Luigi Russi. Third position for Spanish Guillem Farres. EMX 125 and 250 at Valkenswaard (The Netherlands) - Day 1

Today the track of Valkenswaard, in the Netherlands, hosted the first day of EMX 125 and 250. As the 2017 FIM Motocross World Championship takes to the demanding dark sand of Valkenswaard so to will the season opener of the EMX125 class Presented by FMF Racing. EMX65, 85 and Open at Kolding (Denmark)

The Motocross track of Kolding in Denmark hosted the second round of the EMX 65 and 85 North West Zone of the European Motocross Championship. This was also the first round of the year for the Open class. More than 500 spectators were present despite the bad weather that was haunting the circuit since Friday. EMX65 Both EMX65 races saw the domination of Dutch rider Ivano Van Erp (KTM) who managed to win with a big margin and won the overall with perfect score. Second position in Race1 for Dutch Damien Knuiman (Husqvarna) while the last step of the podium went to local rider Nicolai Skovbjerg (KTM). In Race2 it was Danish Mads Fredsoe (KTM) and Lucas Coenen from Belgium (KTM) to catch the second and third position but due to their low score in Race1 they did not step onto the overall podium. FIM Europe for the harmonisation of rules in Motocross

Following a change to the World Championship rules regarding the use of starting blocks, FIM Europe has decided that the same should apply to the European rules to keep the rules harmonised. "Riders may not use any starting aid devices. However, starting blocks are allowed in EMX65, EMX85, EMX150, Women’s EMX, the Women’s Motocross of European Nations and the EMX85 class in the MXoEN, plus EMX125, EMX250 and EMX300 when combined with MXGP/MX2 where the metal, serrated starting grid is used”, stated Mr Eddie Herd, chairman of the FIM Europe Motocross and Snowcross Commission. European EMX 65 and 85 and Women’s at Nestved (Denmark) – Day 2

For the final day of the EMX 65 and 85 North East Zone and Women’s European Championships, races started with cloudy weather and wet conditions on the track due to rain during the night. The organizers prepared perfect conditions for all classes. EMX 85 Race1 presented a great battle for first the positions. Home rider Magnus Smith lead from start to finish. Qualifying winner of group A Jett Lawrence from Australia made a mistake at the start and had to fight to get back to his position. And the end he managed to finish second in front of German rider Constantin Piller. In Race2 Jett Lawrence did not disappoint and won in front of Magnus Smith. European EMX 65 and 85 and Women’s at Nestved (Denmark)

In Nestved (Denmark) the European Championship NW zone kicked off for EMX65,  EMX85 and EMX Women classes. EMX 85 class In Group A the Australian rider Jeff Lawrence won  the qualifying race at his first presence in this class. Second place for the home rider Magnus Smith ahead of Scott Smulders from Holland. In Group B home rider Rasmus Pedersen won the qualifying race in front of Casper Olsen from Norway and Kay De Wolf from Holland. EMX 65 class Ivano Van Erp from the Netherlands and Mats Fredsoe from Denmark had a big fight in the qualifying race and crossed the chequered flag in this order, in front of Belgian Lucas Coenen. EMX WOMEN class Home Rider Sara Anderson won the qualifying race in front of Shana Van der Vlist from Holland and Sandra Karlsson from Sweden.

Victor Arbekov passed away

Victor Arbekov
Victor Arbekov, the 1965 250cc Motocross World Champion, passed away on the early morning of February, 18 at the age of 74. FIM Europe received the sad news as well as the text below from the Motorcycle Federation of Russia. "Victor Arbekov, honored master of sports, honored coach of the USSR, the First USSR Motocross World champion. At the age of 17 he won the USSR championship in the 125 cc. Next year he repeated his success. At the age of 19, being already master of sports and a famous motocross rider, he was drafted into the army; he was in the CSKA team. From 1961 to 1968 he was a member of the USSR team. In 1965 on a motorcycle CZ-250 Victor Arbekov won the gold medal of the World Championship and became the first Russian rider, who won the title of World Champion. Then his main competitor, the
