EMX65 and EMX 85 Championship SW Zone at Fernao Joanes (Portugal) – Day1

The fourth and last round of EMX SW Zone EMX65/85 European Championship started in cloudy, windy weather at Fernao Joanes with 52 riders: 28 in class EMX 65 and 24 in EMX 85. The weather condition in the morning and all day was windy and cloudy. For qualification races it was sunny. The track was really well prepared. Qualification race winner of class EMX 65 was Spanish rider Francisco Garcia, 10,69 sec ahead of Italian Patrick Busatto and 13,55 sec ahead of French rider Jules Pietre. The first lap in class EMX 85 was lead by Pablo Gutierrez Solis, but in few laps Spanish Raul Sanchez Garcia took the first position and won the qualification race. Second position for Italian Matteo Luigi Russi, 3,69 sec ahead of French Saad Soulimani, 14,83sec behind the leader.

EMX 125 and 250 at Kegums (Latvia)

The 2018 MXGP of Latvia is well underway from Kegums and joining in the action of the World Championship was the two FIM Europe classes of EMX250 and EMX125 presented by FMF Racing. While the MXGP and MX2 classes are running their points paying races this afternoon the EMX riders started their championship racing Saturday and finished it up early today. Topping the overall standings was Honda Redmoto Assomotors Mathys Boisrame and KTM Junior Racings Rene Hofer! EMX 250 A reversed track layout provided exciting racing both Saturday and Sunday in both classes but in EMX250 Race 1 on Saturday Estonia’s Karel Kutsar took the lead early and held it for the first 12 laps before Honda Redmoto Assomotors Mathys Boisrame took the premier position away (photo 2). Boisrame who started in 3rd also passed KTM Silver Action’s Gianluca Facchetti for second on lap 3 before overtaking Kutsar. BUD Racing

Tribute to Eric Geboers

Belgian motocross legend Eric sadly passed away on 6 May in a tragic accident on a lake in northern Belgium. The legendary multi-time motocross champion is reported to have drowned while attempting to rescue his dog. Eric Geboers was one of the many Belgian motocross icons and youngest member of the “Geboers clan” the eldest of whom, Sylvain, was the arch-rival of fellow countryman Joël Robert in the 250cc class, finishing runner up in 1969 and 1970 and third in 1968, 1971 and 1972. Actually, the young Eric started his racing career on the same day Sylvain participated in his last race. It was also the only time that all five brothers raced together at one same event. Eric’s FIM World Championship career was launched in 1980 by Sylvain, who was the Suzuki factory team manager. He claimed victory in France during his second GP, becoming the youngest winner ever

Motocross of European Nations will return to Poland

Youthstream and FIM Europe are pleased to announce that the 2018 Motocross of European Nations as well as the Women’s Motocross of European Nations will be held on the 8th and 9th of September and will once again return to Poland. The event will be held at the Gdansk circuit for the second year in a row. Hosting both the 2005 and 2017 editions the Gdansk venue, the Polish organization and their commitment in further developing the venue, have paved the way for this much awaited return. FIM Europe MXGP Trainers meeting in Riga (Latvia)

Last weekend there was the 3rd trainers meeting in Riga (Latvia). This meeting was organised for the FIM Europe MX GP trainers from the North Europe (countries like Latvia, Lithuania, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia etc.) with the aim of giving to participating trainers the MX-C certificate. All 16 trainers passed the proof and can now train at their local clubs riders after an educational program with final proof. “In this traditional time of the year Riga is an important place for this training. The group is increasing with more trainers from different Federations“, stated Mr Martin de Graaff, FIM Europe Vice-President. “After the training for the A and B certificate the trainers were educated for the C level. “With this certificate they are able to work in their home country with these skills. FIM Europe Motocross Commission is very pleased to announce the date and venue of the 2018 edition of the Sidecarcross of European Nations together with the Quadcross of European Nations will be at Slagelse in Denmark on the 22/23 September 2018. «As usual this event is open to any FIM affiliated Federation worldwide. We already know that the Quad team USA will compete and attempt to repeat their success at this year's event held at Cingoli in Italy», stated Mr Eddie Herd, Chairman of the FIM Europe Motocross & Snowcross Commission.

Motocross of European Nations at Gdansk, in Poland

The 2017 Motocross of European Nations saw 17 teams from 16 different countries come together to race in Gdansk, Poland this weekend. Today marked the second of the 2 day event. An Opening Ceremony started the morning with FIM Europe President Dr. Wolfgang Srb, Major of Gdansk Mr. Pawel Adamowicz and Mr. Michal Sikora, Vice President of the Polish Automobile and Motorcycling Federation PZM, all welcoming the participants. After a wet Saturday the weather made a change for the better Sunday to provide great racing and at the conclusion of which it was the French Federation celebrating as their team took the MXoEN winner’s trophy while the Women of the Netherlands celebrated their Women’s Motocross of European Nations victory. Motocross of European Nations 125cc/250cc In the first race of 125cc and 250cc Ukraine’s Volodymyr Tarasov led the first 2 laps but had France’s Mathys Boisrame and Germany’s Tom Koch behind him.

EMX 125, 250 and 300 at Ottobiano (Italy) - Day 1

This weekend the EMX 125, 250 and 300 championships are being held at Ottobiano, in Italy. In day1, the first race of each class was held. In EMX125 Mikkel Haarup from Denmark won in front of Italian Gianluca Facchetti, both on Husqvarna. Third position for Isak Gifting, from Sweden, on KTM. EMX 125 - Photo ©Youthstreamn In EMX250 home rider Morgan Lesiardo on Kawasaki was the winner ahead of his compatriot Nicholas Lapucci on KTM. Third step of the podium for Simone Furlotti, from Italy, too. In EMX 300 James Dunn on KTM won in front of Brad Anderson, on KTM, too, both from Great Britain. Third position for Dutch Mike Kras, on the Orange brand bike, too. Tomorrow Race2 for the three classes will be held, again in the context of MXGP.

EMX 150 and 300 at Teutschenthal (Germany) – Day1

This weekend EMX 150 and 300 are being held at Teutschenthal, in Germany. In EMX 150, Italian Andrea Adamo won Race 1  in front of Luis Outeiro from Portugal and Anton Nordström Graaf from Sweden. In EMX 300 it was Brad Anderson, from Great Britain, to snatch the victory in Race1, setting his KTM in front of Mike Kras from The Netherlands, on KTM, too, and of Erik Willems from Belgium, on Husqvarna. EMX65 and 85 South West at Gazzane di Preseglie (Italy) – Day1

The first round of  EMX SW Zone EMX65/85 European Championship started today in sunny Gazzane di Preseglie, in Italy with 77 riders in EMX 65 and 49 in EMX 85. The weather conditions early in the morning were really good but the ground was still muddy. After few hours it was sunny and windy. The track was well prepared. In EMX 65 qualification race the first position went to the young Italian rider Alessandro Gaspari  6,72 sec ahead of his compatriot Andrea Valetti and 12,11 sec in front of Spanish rider Alejandro Perez. In EMX 85 group A the first position went to young Spanish rider Eddie Jay Wade, almost 11 sec ahead of Italian rider Matteo Luigi Russi. Third position for Spanish Guillem Farres. In EMX 85 group B first position for the Spanish rider Raul Sanchez who struggled with French Baptiste Bordes, only 0.91 sec late below the
