Baja European Championship at Veszprem (Hungary)

The third round of the Baja European Championship was held at Veszprem, in Hungary and saw a total of 10 participants (4 Bike riders, 6 Quad) in a positive, friendly atmosphere.
At the beginning of the race, riders must make a Super Special Stage (SSS). The length of the test was only 11.43 km. The fastest rider of this SSS from Bikes Class was Vladimir Preiss from Slovakia with time 9:18.8 minutes, on KTM, ahead of Richard Hodola from Hungary and Martin Benko from Slovakia.
Przemyslaw Pawlowski from Poland set the best result in the Quad Class with time 9:56.7 minutes ahead of Iaroslav Tovstyk and Bogdan Zyrin from Ukraine.
In addition two ladies took part to the Quad Class and the fastest in this stage was Olga Rouckova from Czech Republic. According to the FIM Europe Baja Rules participants do not get points in this Super Special Stage but it gives to participants the starting order for the next day.
In day1 – yesterday – the race was held in cloudly weather, with a temperature +21.5 C and strong, cold wind.
After the Super Special Stage (SSS) riders continued faced a 280 km long race day within two Special Stages (SS2 and SS3). The race went well without any serious crashes and injuries. All participants finished the race successfully and without technical issues. The track was easy to ride because it was not so dusty as expected, thanks to the rain shower of the night before.
In the Bike Class the fastest rider was Vladimir Preiss (3h:59,38 min) from Slovakia, 26,33 minutes ahead of Richard Hodola and Martin Benko.
In the Quad Class the situation did not change: the winner of the day was Polish rider Przemyslaw Pawlowski (4h:17,17 min), in front of Iaroslav Tovstyk and Bogdan Zyrin, with a 5:54 minutes gap from the leader.
Again the fastest lady was Olga Rouckova from Czech Republic who finished 4th in the Quad Class.
Today’s total track length was 272km within two Special Stages SS4 and SS5 (length 198 km).
In the BikesClass the fastest man of the day was Vladimir Preiss in 2h:29:23. In Quad Class the fastest rider was Iaroslav Tovstyk in 2h:38:04 minutes.
Unfortunately two riders, Hungarian Lajos Horvath who was in the 4th position in the Bikes Class and Quad Class rider Oleksander Bashynskyi from Ukraine who was 6th did not finish the race due to technical problems.
After the results of Day 2, in the Bike Class Vladimir Preiss (SVK) on KTM won the race ahead of Richard Hodola and Martin Benko who had 16:07 minutes gap from the leader.
In the Quad Class after Day 2, 1st position for Iaroslav Tovstyk (UKR), in front of Polish Przemyslaw Pawlowski, who lost the leading position after Day 1. Olga Rouckova managed to snatch the third place.
